das hässliche zebra

For the children's book “Das hässliche Zebra”, I was responsible for the complete visual concept, including cover design, interior illustrations, and cover artwork.

The story centers around Nino, a uniquely patterned zebra who learns that being different can be a strength. The book promotes self-acceptance, courage, and the power of individuality.

As part of this project, I developed a cohesive illustration style tailored to young readers aged 5–8. From initial sketches to the final artwork, I focused on expressive characters, a vibrant African savannah setting, and visual storytelling that complements the emotional arc of the narrative.

The cover design was created to be visually striking and emotionally engaging, reflecting the book’s key themes. I combined hand-drawn illustrations with playful typography to appeal to both children and parents, ensuring a consistent tone across all visual elements.
